Your reactions to your readings are similar to those I had when I first approached this subject from a traditional liberal white perspective and realized that, regardless of my best intentions, there was much room for improvement. You do an excellent job of describing your awakening without taking on too much guilt. You have learned something far more important than simple factual information about our education system.
